Join us on Monday, August 29th, 2011 1:00 PM (ET) for a special webinar presentation "Tribal Outreach: Emergency Preparedness and Environmental Health Education."

MEETING DETAILS

Through a CDC/ATSDR funded cooperative agreement, the Society for Public Health Education (SOPHE) and the National Public Health Information Coalition (NPHIC) present a webinar on education and outreach to tribal nations in regards to emergency preparedness and environmental health. SOPHE and its National Environmental Health Promotion Network (NEHPN), are partnering with NPHIC in engaging tribes to improve networking and training opportunities in regards to emergency risk communication and environmental health education. This webinar will include two speakers who have worked with and engaged tribes regarding preparedness and environmental health threats. It will discuss methodologies and lessons learned from outreach and education activities, looking to promote these activities to other public health entities who may engage with tribes.

OBJECTIVES

Upon completion of this webinar, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the mission and purpose of the NCEH/ATSDR Office of Tribal Affairs.
  • Discuss some of NCEH/ATSDR OTA’s ongoing initiatives, including the National Tribal Environmental Health (NTEH) Think Tank
  • Discuss CDC and ATSDR’s emergency preparedness and response activities and efforts to raise awareness about some of the unique issues tribes face in this field
