CDC’s Colorectal Cancer Partners

National Colorectal Cancer Roundtable

CDC continues its partnership in the National Colorectal Cancer Roundtable, a network of public and private organizations that promote colorectal cancer awareness and screening on the national level. CDC and the American Cancer Society convened the roundtable in 1997.

National Comprehensive Cancer Control Program

CDC supports the National Comprehensive Cancer Control Program (NCCCP), which integrates prevention and control activities relating to many forms of cancer, including colorectal cancer. The objectives of the NCCCP are to improve community-based education and health promotion, share expertise, and address at-risk populations.

With funding from CDC, several states are implementing colorectal cancer prevention and control strategies from their comprehensive cancer control plans. These programs may serve as models for other states.

Prevent Cancer Foundation

CDC funded the Prevent Cancer Foundation (PCF) for a five-year period to help 14 states deliver one-day colorectal cancer Dialogue for Action conferences. These conferences are designed to encourage diverse attendees to work through barriers among providers, health care systems, and the public that impede colorectal cancer screening. PCF helps train event staff and plan the conference. The intended participants in these conferences are state health agencies and their partners. By enabling participants to work through the multitude of issues related to colorectal cancer screening, the Dialogues for Action conferences will benefit the medically underserved and those who have yet to be screened for colorectal cancer.

Health Resources and Services Administration

CDC collaborates with the Health Resources and Services Administration Bureau of Primary Care to help sponsor the East Coast, Midwest, and Western Farmworker Stream Forums. These annual forums began in 1987 on the East Coast, focusing on improving health care delivery to migrant and seasonal farmworkers by providing workshops for health professionals and others who work with the population. Through exhibits, lectures, and interactive workshops, the Stream Forums increase cultural competence of migrant health providers, create networking and collaboration opportunities, and help participants identify additional resources, program models, and effective training.

CDC also provides supplemental funding to support a series of collaboratives designed to develop and implement quality improvement in cancer screening. These collaboratives provide resources and technical assistance to improve cancer screening.

National Colorectal Cancer Research Alliance

Since 2005, CDC's Screen for Life: National Colorectal Cancer Action Campaign has collaborated with the National Colorectal Cancer Research Alliance, a program of the Entertainment Industry Foundation, to develop posters and print ads and television and radio public service announcements.
