Clever Evaluation

Guest Speaker: Cindy Olney, Outreach Evaluation Resource Center

Evaluating programs and projects is a lot like exercising: most of us know evaluation is very important and we plan to start doing it as soon as we have time. So Cindy Olney, evaluation specialist for the National Network of Libraries of Medicine Outreach Evaluation Resource Center (OERC), will present a one-hour session on evaluation methods that are quick, resourceful, and useful. Her strategies include using existing data, combining evaluation with other project activities, and enlisting the help of others in data collection. Cindy Olney has been an evaluation specialist since 1991 and has worked with the OERC since 2004. She specializes in planning and evaluation of health information outreach and public health projects.


Community Outreach Program Planning

The Healthy Communities - Community of Interest (COI) brings you health and literacy educator Sabrina Kurtz-Rossi, M.Ed., presenting oncommunity health program planning and development. She will talk about her recent experience working with community based organizations (CBOs) in Providence RI serving the Latino community and CBOs in rural Maine serving seniors. Her presentation will include a discussion of ideas and strategies for community assessment, forming partnerships, and planning and implementing community health programs. She will also draw on the experience of Healthy Communities COI members and hopes you too will share the creative ideas and strategies that have
worked for you.

Health Information Literacy Webinar

The New England Regional Medical Library presents Jean Shipman, Director of the Spencer S. Eccles Health Sciences Library, University of Utah, who will review the Medical Library Association’s Health Information Literacy Research Project that was funded by the National Library of Medicine. She will share how this two-year project has helped to educate health care providers about the key role medical librarians can play with improving their institution’s health literacy efforts in addition to how results of the project have been disseminated.
