Office of Recovery for Auto Communities and Workers

Welcome to the Office of Recovery for Auto Communities and Workers. In March 2009, President Barack Obama appointed a Director of Recovery for Auto Communities and Workers. This Director is charged with coordinating the administration-wide effort to assist automotive communities affected by the downturn in the automotive industry.
The Office of Recovery for Auto Communities and Workers, with the leadership of Labor Secretary Hilda Solis and National Economic Council Director Gene Sperling, works with federal agencies to address issues of special importance to automotive communities and workers.
This office works directly with state and local stakeholders in areas affected by the changing American automotive industry to ensure that they receive the federal support necessary that, when in conjunction with state and local efforts, will help these communities return to a better economic condition.
