2010 National Achievement in Environmental Justice Award Winners
On December 15, 2010, EPA announces five winners of its 2010 National Achievement in Environmental Justice Awards. The awards are given to the following multi-stakeholder partnerships representing 35 organizations listed below:
- ENLACE Caño Martín Peña Project, San Juan, PR (PDF) (1 pg, 515K) for establishing and implementing a land use and comprehensive development plan that works to improve social, economic, and environmental conditions for eight communities in the Caño Martín Peña Special Planning District. Partners include:

On December 14, 2009, EPA announced five winners of its 2009 Environmental Justice Achievement Awards. The awards are given to the following multi-stakeholder partnerships representing 60 organizations listed below:
- Coalition to Prevent Lead Poisoning (PDF) (1 pg, 534K) for outstanding leadership in community-based efforts to prevent childhood lead poisoning in the City of Rochester, New York.
- Fish Contamination Education Collaborative (PDF) (1 pg, 171K) for outstanding efforts to reduce the consumption of contaminated fish by the local Vietnamese, Chinese, and angler populations near the Palos Verdes Shelf Superfund site, Los Angeles, CA.
- Mitigation Agreement Commission and the Lowcountry Alliance for Model Communities (PDF) (1 pg, 174K) for their outstanding efforts to work with the City of North Charleston and the South Carolina Ports Authority to foster environmental protection and economic revitalization in distressed neighborhoods.
- ReGenesis Project (PDF) (1 pg, 158K) for outstanding leadership and efforts to address environmental protection and community revitalization issues in the Arkwright community of Spartanburg, South Carolina.
- The Clean Trucks Program (PDF) (1 pg, 164K) for outstanding efforts to significantly reduce air pollution from big truck rigs around Long Beach and Los Angeles, California port facilities.
2008 Environmental Justice Achievement Award Winners
On October 21, 2008, EPA announced 12 winners of its first annual 2008 Environmental Justice Achievement Awards. The awards were given to organizations in the following categories:
