Office of the Director
CDC Drug Service
- Maintains a formulary of investigational and licensed drugs and biologics that are distributed to approved physicians for the prevention, control, and/or treatment of rare, tropical, or exceptional diseases.
Quality Assurance Program (QAP)
- Serves as DSR liaison, resource, and point of contact for inquiries related to Quality System Regulations (QSR) and current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP).
Laboratory Animal Medicine Residency Program (LAMRP)
- Provides residents with comprehensive training in laboratory animal clinical medicine and pathology and biocontainment operations and prepares them for certification eligibility by the American College of Laboratory Animal Medicine (ACLAM).
Select Agent Distribution Activity (SADA)
- Responsible for facilitating the distribution of select agents to qualified users.
DSR Organization and Programs
Animal Resources Branch (ARB)
Develops and implements applied research programs to expand and enhance the use of animal models necessary to support infectious disease research
Biologics Branch
Provides high quality reagents, products, and services critical to CDC laboratorians
Biotechnology Core Facility Branch (BCFB)
Provides synthetics, technical expertise, and bioinformatics support to CDC laboratorians
Laboratory Support Branch (LSB)
Coordinates technical services for CDC laboratories, including procurement, processing, and distribution of glassware and laboratory supplies, laboratory waste decontamination and disposal, laundry services, and materiel management
Specimen Management Branch (SMB)
Receives, triages, processes, and distributes specimens to CDC laboratories for reference diagnostic testing, research studies, and epidemics. SMB reports diagnostic test results to submitting organizations and manages all CDC exports in compliance with established regulations
