Outfitting traffic signals in an effort to make crossings safer for blind people may be an admirable notion, but its also a very bad idea.  Aside from the outrageous costs at a time of deficits, the real point is that if our society is so degraded that no one will assist the blind at traffic crossings, it is beyond the government's ability to fix.
