8/30/2012 Beyond the Numbers Other publication Facts of the catch: occupational injuries, illnesses, and fatalities to fishing workers, 2003–2009 On August 30, 2012, footnote 15 was corrected to say, "of the 150 fishers that incurred fatal injuries in the shellfish industry during the 2003–2009 period, 36 could be positively identified as shrimp fishermen." Previously the footnote had said crab fishermen instead of shrimp fishermen.

8/29/2012 State and Local Unemployment Rates Time series Local Area Unemployment Statistics Database Corrections to labor force and unemployment estimates for substate areas in Arizona and North Carolina were published in the BLS database on August 29, 2012. The largest corrections occurred in Apache County in Arizona and the Burlington metropolitan area (equivalent to Alamance County) and Burlington city in North Carolina. Corrections to most other metropolitan areas in Arizona and North Carolina were small.  Labor force and unemployment estimates for the Virginia Beach-Norfolk-Newport News, Virginia-North Carolina, metropolitan area also were corrected because of small changes in the North Carolina portion. All of the affected areas have been footnoted in the BLS database.

8/14/2012 Labor Force Statistics (from the Current Population Survey - CPS) Time series Weekly and hourly earnings data from the Current Population Survey On August, 8, 2012, three median usual weekly earnings series were revised in the BLS database. The revisions changed some estimates for the 1979—1999 period by plus or minus $1 in the annual average current-dollar median weekly earnings of full-time wage and salary workers 16 years and over.  The affected series were for both sexes (LEU0252881500), men (LEU0252881800), and women (LEU0252882700).  The estimates were revised to apply a consistent methodology for the complete historical series from 1979 to the present. The estimates that changed were not footnoted in the BLS database.

8/13/2012 Import/Export Price Indexes News release U.S. Import and Export Price Indexes — July 2012 (HTML) (PDF) The news release on U.S. Import and Export Price Indexes published on August 10, 2012, included an error in the heading of one column in table 7. The heading for the first column originally said "Percent of U.S. imports" but was subsequently corrected to say "Relative importance June 2012." This correction also was made to two supplemental tables that were published at the same time as the news release. The tables affected are "Table 7. U.S. import price indexes for selected categories of goods by locality of origin" at http://www.bls.gov/web/ximpim/coor.htm and "Table 7. 8/6/2012 State and Local Unemployment Rates Time series Local Area Unemployment Statistics Database Corrections to labor force, employment, and unemployment estimates for numerous substate areas were published in the BLS database on August 1, 2012. These corrections stemmed from data errors for Delaware in January through April 2012 and for West Virginia in January and February 2012.  The errors affected data for other states because of the nature of the estimation methodology for the Local Area Unemployment Statistics program.  All substate areas in Delaware, Maryland, and New Jersey, and some interstate areas shared with the District of Columbia, New York, and Pennsylvania, were affected for the months of January through April 2012. All substate areas in Kentucky, Ohio, Virginia, and West Virginia, and the Evansville, Indiana-Kentucky, Metropolitan Statistical Area, were affected for January and February 2012. Three interstate areas that include parts of Tennessee were affected for February 2012. Most of the corrections outside of Delaware and West Virginia were small. All of the corrections have been footnoted in the BLS database.

7/17/2012 Consumer Price Index Time series Consumer Price Index Databases With the July 17, 2012, release of Consumer Price Index data for June 2012, sixteen series for Houston-Galveston-Brazoria, Texas, that were incorrect and not intended for publication were erroneously published in the BLS database. The June 2012 data for these series subsequently were removed from the BLS database less than 3 hours after they were published. The release of these data did not constitute a disclosure of information about individual survey respondents. The information contained in the Consumer Price Index news release was not affected and remains unchanged.

4/17/2012 Consumer Expenditures Other publication Focus on Prices and Spending: How do U.S. expenditures compare with those of other countries? This report was reissued on Friday, April 13, 2012,to correct errors in the expenditure shares reported for the United States and Canada. Housing expenditures for the United Kingdom and Japan exclude property taxes. Property taxes were mistakenly included within housing expenditures for the United States and Canada, making the estimated expenditure shares for each country noncomparable. The correction required the exclusion of property taxes from housing expenditures for the United States and Canada, resulting in a decrease in the share of housing expenditures and an increase in expenditure shares for all other categories for those countries.

4/11/2012 Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey News release Job Openings and Labor Turnover — February 2012 (PDF) This release was reissued on Tuesday, April 10, 2012, to correct errors in the seasonally adjusted January layoffs and discharges rates and levels in Table B on page 3 of the release.  All seven January levels in Table B have been corrected along with the January rates for Total Private and for the South, Midwest, and West regions. Corrections only occur in the PDF version of the news release; the HTML version is correct as originally posted.

4/4/2012 State and Local Unemployment Rates News release Regional and State Employment and Unemployment — 2011 Annual Averages (HTML) (PDF) This release was reissued on Wednesday, April 4, 2012, to incorporate minor corrections to employment and labor force estimates for Montana. Montana's 2010 employment-population ratio changed from 59.7 to 59.9 percent, while its 2011 ratio changed from 59.8 to 59.7 percent, affecting the state counts for over-the-year employment-population ratio changes. The introductory paragraph of the release, as well as tables 1 and 2, have been modified accordingly.

3/7/2012 Monthly Labor Review Other publication Monthly Labor Review- January 2012 Issue On February 21, 2012, corrections were made to the article, "Labor Force projections to 2020: a more slowly growing workforce," which appeared on pages 43–64 in the January 2012 issue.

In table 1, on page 44, the percent distribution for those of Hispanic origin in 2010 should have been 14.8 percent.  Also in table 1, the projected percent change from 2010 to 2020 in the White non-Hispanic labor force should have been −1.5 percent.

On page 45, in the last paragraph of the Fertility section, the first sentence should have read "In the most recent Census Bureau projection of the resident population, used as the basis of the BLS labor force projections, the future fertility rate is assumed to remain close to the present level, roughly the replacement level of 2.1."

On page 46, in the first paragraph, the sentence beginning on the sixth line should have read, "According to the Census Bureau's population projections used in the 2010–2020 projections of the labor force, net immigration to the United States is expected to add 1.4 million people annually to the U.S. resident population."

3/2/2012 Occupational Employment Statistics Other publication Occupational Employment and Wages, May 2010 The mean hourly wage for flight attendants (published on http://www.bls.gov/oes/current/oes532031.htm) was found to contain an error. Within tables indicating the wage estimates for this occupation (located on multiple pages covering different industries, states, and metropolitan areas), the footnote assigned to those estimates was found to be incorrect and references to the hourly wage estimate were removed. 10/20/2011 National Nonfarm Payroll Statistics (from the Current Employment Statistics Survey) News release Real Earnings As initially released at 8:30 A.M., the Explanatory Note of the HTML version of the Real Earnings news release for October 19, 2011 contained some incorrect information. In the section referring to "the deflator used for constant-dollar earnings," the specific Consumer Price Indexes were misidentified. Later in the day, a version of the Explanatory Note with the correct text was posted to the BLS website.

The correct text is: "The deflators used for constant-dollar earnings series presented in this release come from the Consumer Price Indexes Programs. The Consumer Price Index for All Urban Employees (CPI-U) is used to deflate the all employees series, while the Consumer Price Index for Urban Wage Earners and Clerical Workers (CPI-W) is used to deflate the production employees series." There were no changes in the data, analysis, or tables of the HTML version of the Real Earnings news release. The PDF version of the news release was not affected.

Other minor corrections have been made to measures for the following industries: NAICS 321, 3219, 482111, 491, 4911, 541921, 561311, 56172. Corrections have been made to tables 1 and 2; no changes were required to the text and the charts in the news release.

6/25/2010 State & Metro Area Nonfarm Payroll Statistics (from the Current Employment Statistics - CES Survey) News release Regional and State Employment and Unemployment — May 2010 (HTML) (PDF) The release was reissued on June 24, 2010 to correct several Statewide May 2010 preliminary employment estimates for Texas. The estimates previously released on June 18, 2010 did not fully capture the impact of Census worker hiring. Affected series are included in the table below with corrected values shown. 6/18/2010 Consumer Price Index Time series Consumer Price Index Database The April 2010 index value (not seasonally adjusted) for the New York Metropolitan Area's All Items Less Shelter (Series ID: CUURA101SA0L2) was corrected to 212.634. During the testing of a new software platform, this number was found to be incorrectly rounded.

"Bodily reaction and exertion cases made up 38.6 percent of all cases involving days away from work."

Within the explanatory text below chart 21, the following sentence was corrected to say:

"The rate of MSDs in 2008 was 33.4 per 10,000 full-time workers, a decline of 5.6 percent from 2007."

4/22/2010 State & Metropolitan Area Nonfarm Payroll Statistics (from the Current Employment Statistics Survey) Time series Employment, Hours, and Earnings - State and Metropolitan Area Database Upon the release of metropolitan area employment data on April 16, 2010, an incorrect March 2010 estimate was published for the following series:

Total nonfarm, all employees (in thousands), seasonally adjusted - Bellingham, WA

The correct estimate of 77.9 was published on April 20, 2010.

4/14/2010 National Nonfarm Payroll Statistics (from the Current Employment Statistics Survey) News release Real Earnings At release time (8:30 a.m) on April 14, 2010, the abstract posted to the BLS home page for the Real Earnings news release contained an error. Immediately following the release, the text was corrected and the following abstract was posted:

"Real average hourly earnings for all employees fell 0.2 percent from February to March, seasonally adjusted. This decrease stems from a 0.1 percent decrease in average hourly earnings and a 0.1 percent increase in the Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers (CPI-U). Real average weekly earnings rose 0.1 percent over the month."

4/9/2010 National Longitudinal Surveys (NLS) News release America's Youth at 22: School Enrollment, Training, and Employment Transitions Between Ages 21 and 22 The HTML version of the release was re-issued on April 9, 2010 to correct one rounding error in table 1 and two rounding errors in table 2.   Additionally, it corrects minor errors in characteristic titles in table 4.  The PDF version of the release was not affected.

3/25/2010 State & Metro Area Nonfarm Payroll Statistics (from the Current Employment Statistics - CES) News release Metropolitan Area Employment and Unemployment — January 2010 (HTML) (PDF) Within the section of the release titled, "Metropolitan Area Nonfarm Employment (Not Seasonally Adjusted)", the first sentence of the third paragraph contained an error. A correction was made to the number of metropolitan areas with annual average employment levels above 750,000 in 2009. The correct sentence now reads as follows, "Over the year, nonfarm employment declined in all 36 metropolitan areas with annual average employment levels above 750,000 in 2009."
