Pelosi Statement on Obama Administration ‘Make It In America Challenge’

September 25, 2012

Washington, D.C. – Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi released the following statement today after the Obama Administration announced the “Make It In America Challenge” to accelerate insourcing in America:

“House Democrats, led by our distinguished Whip Steny Hoyer, have continued to push forward positive solutions to keep our nation competitive and to create jobs here at home through our Make It in America agenda.  The Obama Administration’s announcement of the ‘Make It In America Challenge' to accelerate insourcing is another building block in our effort to strengthen the middle class.

“While we have put our economic growth plans on the table – to invest in manufacturers, small businesses, tax cuts for working families, and America's infrastructure, Republicans have offered only obstruction and delay.  That’s why we continue to call on Republicans to return to Congress and join us to get the job done for the American people.

“With the President’s ‘Make It in America Challenge,’ we will continue our efforts to partner with business and workers to strengthen the economy here at home.  Democrats are committed to reigniting the American dream, removing barriers to success and building ladders of opportunity for anyone willing to work hard, play by the rules, and take responsibility.  We must strengthen the pillars that have always made our economy succeed: small businesses, entrepreneurs, and a thriving middle class.  And we have work to do."
