Marine Mineral Resource Evaluation
The highly successful cooperative agreement program eventually included a total of 15 states and identified hundreds of millions of cubic yards of sand deemed suitable for beach nourishment. A number of beach nourishment projects completed in Florida, Maryland, and Virginia used sand evaluated by the cooperative program including several done on an emergency basis to prevent imminent breaching. The 15 states involved in the cooperative program were: Alabama, California, Delaware, Florida, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Mississippi, New Hampshire, New Jersey, North Carolina, South Carolina, Texas, and Virginia.
