Using American FactFinder

What's new in American FactFinder?

The latest functional release of the American FactFinder (AFF) was released to the public on September 20th, 2012. This functional release has laid the groundwork for a major redesign effort to be released in early 2013. In this release there are updates to:

Mainpage with updates highlighted
  1. Changes to Quick Start
    • The results in the type ahead overlay will be in a more logical order when you use the industries button in quick start.
  2. EEO Occupation Codes Search Menu
    • This new menu is to support the upcoming EEO American Community Survey Special Tabulation. Do not use if you need data from the economic census and related programs.

Download

  1. The .csv file created from a database compatible download has been simplified in order to make it easier for users to upload the file to a database.
  2. Table modifications are now saved in all download types.
  3. Ability to include descriptive elements in database downloads.
  4. More timely error messaging when a download is to large to be completed.

Other changes

  1. AFF now works with Firefox 10 , IE 9, Chrome 16, Safari 5.1, and Opera 11.x . There may be some performance issues with the newest versions of these browsers. AFF is continuing to work on upgrading their browser compatibility.
  2. The synonym list in all search menus have been improved.

The next economic data release in AFF will be the 2011 Annual Survey of Manufacturers in November 2012.

The 2012 Economic Census will begin to be released in December 2013.
