Public Health Library and Information Center

Welcome to PHLIC

The CDC Public Health Library and Information Center (PHLIC) mission is to advance science, public health and safety through information. The library provides a full range of information services and products in support of public health research, policy and action. Through the headquarters library in Atlanta and its eight branches, PHLIC serves CDC employees across the nation as well as those located internationally.

Library Products and Services:

The CDC collections span the field of public health. Print and electronic resources cover such topics as disease prevention, epidemiology, infectious diseases, global health, chronic diseases, environmental health, injury prevention, and occupational safety and health. The main library is developing a small but growing Landmarks in Public Health collection that includes items of significance to the history of public health. The Pittsburgh library houses an extensive historic collection on mining and mining safety.

The main library in Atlanta and selected branch libraries are open to the public. To visit these libraries, follow the CDC visitor guidelines below. The CDC collections and reference services are available to the general public for onsite use only.

The library, in collaboration with the CDC Office of the Chief Science Officer, publishes a weekly public health current literature alert. CDC Science Clips includes newly published CDC journal articles as well as other current articles of interest to CDC partners and the public health community.
