Dori Salcido is the Acting Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs and for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, having most recently been the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs, overseeing communications for HHS agencies involved in public health including FDA, CDC, NIH and the Public Health Service. Previously, Dori served as Director of Communications for the Assistant Secretary for Health and the Surgeon General at HHS. She also served as a Special Assistant and Director of Media Operations to President Clinton at the White House.
Prior to joining the administration, Dori spent time in the private sector working for Time Warner's AOL division as Senior Communications Director. At AOL, Dori led the company's public relations efforts in several areas, including crisis communications, online safety and privacy issues and key product launches. She also executed media strategies and marketing campaigns to support AOL's international expansion efforts in Europe, Asia-Pacific and Latin America.
Dori earned her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Speech Communications from the University of New Mexico, Albuquerque.
