A Brief Overview of the Office of Equal Employment Opportunity's Legal Authority

The Office of Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) advises and assists the U.S. Federal Trade Commission in carrying out its responsibilities and duties relative to Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, as amended, other laws, executive orders, and regulatory guidelines affecting affirmative employment and the processing of EEO complaints.  Although not an exhaustive list, the following are many of the statutory authorities under which the Office of EEO operates:
