Purchasers of equipment can use the NIJ standards as a benchmark for determining whether a particular piece of equipment meets an established threshold of quality and performance.
This document is an update of the NIJ Standard developed for autoloading pistols used by law enforcement officers. It describes the criteria that pistols must meet for quality of manufacture, performance, and reliability. The test protocols established to measure these criteria are described as well.
