Time to celebrate! August 2012 marks a historical time for both the Fryingpan-Arkansas and the Colorado-Big Thompson water projects (both overseen by our office). The Fry-Ark is now officially 50 years old and the C-BT turned 75!

On the Fry-Ark, Reclamation together with the Southeastern Colorado Water Conservancy District held celebratory events and outreach initiatives. on Saturday, August 18, the agencies hosted a free public event day at Lake Pueblo State Park. The event ran from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and included free pontoon boat rides around the reservoir and free tours of the Pueblo Fish Hatchery located below Pueblo Dam. Speakers, films, and displays were open to the public at the Lake Pueblo Visitor's Center.

Equally exciting are two new commemorative films by Reclamation summarizing the proud legacy of each project. The Fryingpan-Arkansas Project film, Fifty Years of Golden Benefits was premiered at the free event on August 18. The C-BT's film, The Peoples' Project, will be out later this year.

Reclamation and its partners are not the only ones celebrating this year. All across Colorado, water anniversaries are taking place. To learn more, visit the official Colorado Water 2012 webpage.
