The American Cultural Center hosted a training seminar from January 21 to 25 in collaboration with the Global Youth Innovation Network (GYIN) campaign. The workshop aimed to promote entrepreneurship among the 30 emerging leaders who participated.
Twelve advance to speech contest finals
On January 22 and 23, twenty-four young Beninese leaders competed in the French and English versions of the semi-finals of the "Dream or Prophecy" speech contest hosted by the American Cultural Center in Cotonou.

Message for U.S. Citizens: Temporary Closure of the Consular Section (Jan 23, 2013)
Please be advised that the Consular Section of the U.S. Embassy in Cotonou, Benin will be closed for all visa and other routine services the week of January 28 through February 1, 2013. The Consular Section will re-open for normal business on February 4, 2013. During this time, only emergency services will be available.

With the onset of the holiday season, the U.S. Embassy in Cotonou would like to take the opportunity to remind everyone to practice good security habits. In the past, Benin has traditionally experienced an increase in crimes of opportunity such as robberies, pick-pocketing, purse snatching, thefts from vehicles, and residential break-ins during the holiday season.

The American Cultural Center will host an election night event on November 6, 2012 starting at 11:30 p.m. and ending at 5:00 a.m. - one hour after west-coast polling stations close.
