Dietitians

In recent years, USPHS has received overwhelming interest in career opportunities. To manage the current volume of applications amidst organizational changes, it was necessary for us to focus our efforts on professions and positions of most need. As of May 2012 – and until further notice – the Commissioned Corps is not accepting new application packets for this profession. Please refer to the Application Process Change: Focus on Existing Applicant Pool PDF for more information, and check the Web site or Facebook page for future updates.

Dietitian discussing health with patient

As a dietitian officer in the U.S. Public Health Service (USPHS) Commissioned Corps, you can truly make a difference in underserved and disadvantaged communities, places where better nutrition can improve health and quality of life. Every day will offer new challenges ranging from managing nutrition education programs for patients, providers, and the public to conducting research to improve national and global nutrition. As part of a national team of committed health care professionals, you'll enjoy leadership opportunities, excellent benefits, and work/life balance, all while improving the health of the Nation.

“The dietitians in the Corps meet the mission of the USPHS by working in both traditional and non-traditional dietitian roles. Dietitians play key roles as they work to protect, promote, and advance the health and safety of the Nation.”
