The Agricultural Research Service is the primary scientific research agency of the United States Department of Agriculture. Stillwater ARS has two primary research units. The Wheat, Peanut and Other Field Crops Research Unit focuses on developing principles of biological methods, cultural methods, and superior germplasm that will reduce insect and drought stress reactions in cereal crops, peanuts, and forages; while the Hydraulic Engineering Research Unit focuses on developing design criteria for effective and safe hydraulic structures and channels to control, convey, manage, and measure surface water.
