US Fire Administration Fire Estimates Fire Estimate Summaries present basic data on the size and status of the fire problem in the United States as depicted through data collected in the U.S. Fire Administration's (USFA's) National Fire Incident Reporting System (NFIRS). Each Fire Estimate Summary addresses the size of the specific fire or fire-related issue and highlights important trends in the data. This data presents a valuable set of datasets and graphics for the five-year fire trend from 2006-2010. DHS FEMA Other 2012-09-13 11:14:08
US Fire Administration Residential Fire Fatalities Information on residential fire fatalities is compiled through a daily Internet search (Monday-Friday) of U.S. news media reports. The primary purpose of this information is to help raise awareness about the danger of fire and the frequency of home fire deaths. USFA estimates approximately one-third to one-half of the total number of residential fire fatalities that occur each year are captured on this page. Information is obtained from news media reports published or aired within 24-48 hours after the fire; therefore, complete information is not available. Most fires require a post-incident investigation that may take days or months to complete. Only at the conclusion of the investigation will relevant facts be determined. For this reason, the statistics found on this page are only preliminary and should be viewed as such. DHS FEMA Other 2012-09-13 11:14:08
