Send large amounts of printed matter overseas. Airmail M-Bags can hold up to 66 lbs. Printed matter is anything on paper that isn’t correspondence or a bill. This usually includes printed words, images, and characters.

  • Weight limit is 66 lbs.
  • Can include printed material–newspapers, magazines, journals, books, sheet music, catalogs, directories, commercial advertising, and promotional matter. Can also include commercial samples or informational materials as long as they are related to the host piece and cannot be resold.
  • Can also include commercial samples or informational materials as long as they aren’t resold.
  • There is no minimum weight, but any M-Bag under 11 lbs will be charged at the 11-lb price. The combined weight of each piece of printed matter and its related materials cannot exceed 4 lbs.
  • The M-Bag must include a full customs declaration.

What’s considered hazardous?

 

Hazardous materials come in a wide variety of forms and can be chemical, biological, radioactive, or a combination.

 

The Postal Service's™ definition of a hazardous material includes many common household and consumer products. They may not be dangerous on your shelf at home, but they can become a hazard when shaken or when the temperature or pressure changes.

 

Some items USPS regulations restrict or consider hazardous include:

  • Aerosols
  • Airbags
  • Bleach
  • Cleaning supplies
  • Dry ice
  • Fireworks
  • Flea collars or flea sprays
  • Fuels or gasoline
  • Glues
  • Items previously containing fuel
  • Matches
  • Mercury thermometers
  • Nail polish
  • Paints
  • Perfumes
  • Pool chemicals

Other items, such as alcoholic beverages (beer, wine, liquor), aren’t considered hazardous, but are prohibited. Boxes with labels or logos for those products can’t be mailed either.
