celebrating 40 years acquisition excellence
Since 1971, the Department of Defense has seen the value and need for an institution to develop its acquisition professionals. That institution has taken on several names, evolved and transformed into what is today the Defense Acquisition University. Thanks to its predecessors and hundreds of individuals, this year DAU is able to celebrate 40 years of training, certifying, and ensuring the Defense Acquisition Workforce is qualified to do their jobs professionally and correctly through the life of their careers.
 



DAU is celebrating 40 years of developing acquisition professionals throughout 2011. The need for acquisition training emerged more than a half century ago. Due to the complexity of modern weapons systems after World War II, the government could no longer solely rely on its arsenals and shipyards to meet the needs of the warfighter. read more
