Explanation: This graph compares the age-adjusted prevalence of diabetes among U.S. adults aged 20 years or older by race and ethnicity. In the year 2002, the age-adjusted prevalence of diabetes was 17.6% among American Indians and Alaska Natives, 12.9% among non-Hispanic blacks, 11.7% among Hispanic/Latino Americans, and 7.9% among non-Hispanic whites.

Explanation: This graph displays the number of new cases of diagnosed diabetes among U.S. adults aged 20 years or older. In the year 2002, there were about 195,000 new cases among people aged 20-39 years; 568,000 new cases among people aged 40-59 years; and 492,000 among people aged 60 years and older.

Explanation: This graph displays the distribution of insulin and oral medication treatment among U.S. adults aged 20 years or older with diagnosed diabetes in 1999–2001. Fifty-three percent were treated with only oral medication, 12% received insulin and oral medication, 19% received only insulin, and 15% received neither oral medication nor insulin.
