Did you know that about 70 percent of kidney failure cases are caused by diabetes and high blood pressure?

Hi, I’m Dr. Griffin Rodgers, bringing you Healthy Moments from the NIH. I’m the Director of the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases.

Other risk factors for kidney disease include,

  • being African American or a member of certain other ethnic groups
  • having heart disease
  • or having a family history of kidney disease

Now that you know the risk factors, you can help inform friends and family who may be at risk. But how do you do that?

Well, download a free Kidney Sundays Tool Kit! It contains material that you can use to start conversations both inside and outside your faith-based group.
