Internships, Fellowships, Postdoctoral Research Awards, and Scholarships

Attention students, teachers, Ph.D graduates, scientists, and engineers interested in clean energy: The Department of Energy, EERE, and other organizations offer a variety of internships, fellowships, and scholarships that you may be eligible for.

Check out the programs linked here – many of which provide real-world experience in a research, industry, or government environment.

Here you will find:

  • Internships in renewable energies such as solar and fuel cells, energy efficiency, atmospheric sciences, ecology, global carbon cycles, climatology, and more, include EERE's own student internship program.
  • Fellowships at DOE facilities in a number of science and technology areas, as well as AAAS Fellowships, which provide the opportunity for scientists and engineers to learn about policy-making in energy efficiency and renewable energy while contributing their knowledge and analytical skills to the federal government.
  • Postdoctoral Research Awards supporting EERE's mission in energy efficiency and renewable energy by offering recent Ph.D. recipients the opportunity to conduct applied research at universities, national laboratories, and other research facilities.
  • Scholarships from various organizations and institutions such as the University of California, Davis.
