Projects

These are Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy's latest Funding Opportunity Projects.

Innovative Manufacturing Initiative

The Energy Department awarded more than $54 million leveraging approximately an additional $17 million in cost share from the private sector – for 13 projects across the country to advance transformational technologies and materials that can help American manufacturers dramatically increase the energy efficiency of their operations and reduce costs.

High-Efficiency Lighting

The Energy Department awarded more than $7 million for three innovative lighting projects at companies in California, Michigan, and North Carolina that aim to lower the cost of manufacturing high-efficiency solid-state lighting (SSL) technologies like light-emitting diodes (LEDs) and organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs).

Validation of Hydrogen Refueling Station Performance

The Energy Department awarded $2.4 million for five hydrogen refueling projects at companies in California, Connecticut, and Illinois that aim to analyze and improve research and development of hydrogen refueling technologies including Advanced High-Pressure Electrolyzers.

Concentrating Solar Power Research and Development

The Energy Department announced new investments for 21 projects, spanning 13 states for a total of $56 million over three years, to further advance cutting-edge concentrating solar power technologies (CSP). The research projects, conducted in partnership with private industry, national laboratories, and universities, support the Energy Department's SunShot Initiative, a collaborative national effort to make solar power cost-competitive with traditional energy sources by the end of the decade.
