Grants.gov - Awards

The Center for Digital Government named the winners of the 2006 Digital Government Achievement Awards on September 22, 2006 at a gala held in Las Vegas. The Digital Government Achievement Award (DGAA) recognizes outstanding agency and department Web sites and applications that enhance information interactions, transactions and/or services, in categories that include government-to-government, government-to-business, government-to-citizen and government internal.

This year, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and Grants.gov won a 2006 DGAA in the key Government-to-Government category. Center for Digital Government Executive VP Cathilea Robinett offered congratulations, saying, “These winners set the mark for delivering innovative, efficient and effective government services to all of their many constituencies.”

GCN Government IT Leadership Award Goes to Grants.gov Program Manager
Awarded: May 4, 2006

Among the 12 U.S. government career professionals selected by Government Computer News (GCN) to receive this year’s prestigious GCN IT Leadership Award is Rebecca Spitzgo, Grants.gov Program Manager at the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). This award recognizes her record of outstanding performance and leadership that has inspired other government professionals to deliver on mission goals in the area of information technology. Ms. Spitzgo was recognized for having demonstrated sustained and exceptional accomplishment in her management of Grants.gov for HHS.

GCN’s special report in its May 1 edition described her and the other 11 awardees as “dazzling examples of the sort of leaders who are helping to transform government with their vision.” The 12 leaders, chosen for the GCN award from a pool of nearly 100 nominations, are profiled online at GCN.com as well as in the May 1 edition of the magazine. They will also be honored at the GCN IT Leadership Awards Conference scheduled for May 24 in Washington, DC.

American Council for Technology Recognizes Grants.gov
Awarded: April 27, 2006

The American Council for Technology (ACT) recognized Grants.gov as one of 15 Federal and Department of Defense Finalists for the 2006 ACT Intergovernmental Solutions Awards (ISA). Selected for its ability to leverage technology to transform business processes, Grants.gov was evaluated for excellence in a number of criteria: collaboration, innovative and effective use of technology, business transformation, availability and transferability, impact and results, and technological leadership. Selected from a pool of nominees of exceptional caliber, Grants.gov stood out, thanks to its commitment to results and dedication to public service. According to Awards Co-Chairs, "Government agencies face the challenge of meeting many complex needs as efficiently as possible, and these finalists are meeting that challenge through the innovative use of technology."
