Results of Tests on Powder Found at Fort McPherson, Georgia

As reported via the Health Alert Network earlier today, on February 22, 2002, at 5:30 PM EST, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) was notified of a possible anthrax incident at Fort McPherson, Georgia. Law enforcement transported the sample to CDC's laboratory facilities in Atlanta for further testing.

Updated CDC laboratory results are as follows:

· PCR: Negative

· Culture: No growth of any organism after 24 hours

Culture will be signed out to the State and Federal agencies as negative for Bacillus anthracis.
