Under the executive direction of the FMCSA Administrator and the general professional supervision of the DOT General Counsel, the Chief Counsel renders legal services and provides legal policy and direction to all FMCSA Headquarters and field offices. The staff provides legal representation and other legal services in connection with litigation or administrative proceedings involving FMCSA or its officials. They provide appropriate liaison and assistance to the Department of Justice and the DOT Office of the General Counsel on such matters. The staff serves as the Agency's Deputy Ethics Official and is responsible for the Agency's ethics program, which includes counseling and training.
