Martin C. Carlson, United States Attorney for the Middle District of Pennsylvania and Kim Rice, Special Agent in Charge, United States Food and Drug Administration, Office of Criminal Investigations, jointly announced today that DR. DAVID M. O’NEIL, age 60, a physician who practices medicine in the Baltimore, Maryland area has been charged in an indictment with allegedly attempting to obstruct a federal grand jury investigation.  O’Neil recently appeared in federal court in Virginia and was released pending further proceedings in this case.

            If convicted, O’Neil faces a maximum of 10 years’ imprisonment, up to a $250,000 fine and a maximum three years of supervised release.

            This case was investigated by the United States Food and Drug Administration, Office of Criminal Investigations.  Prosecution is being handled by Assistant U.S. Attorney William S. Houser
