Youth Online: High School YRBS

Youth Online lets you analyze national, state, and local Youth Risk Behavior Surveillance System (YRBSS) data from 1991 - 2011. Data from high school and middle school surveys are included. You can filter and sort on the basis of race/ethnicity, sex, grade, or site, create customized tables and graphs, and perform statistical tests by site and health topic.   • bullet The prevalence of having rarely or never worn a seat belt ranged from 4.4% to 20.1% across state surveys in 2011. There was no statistical difference between male and female students in eight states. View Data
    bullet In Miami-Dade County, FL in 2011, 10.8% of 9th grade, 10.0% of 10th grade, 12.4% of 11th grade, and 12.1% of 12th grade students did not eat vegetables during the seven days before the survey. View Data
    bullet The prevalence of current cigarette use ranged from 16.8% to 30.9% in 1991 and from 5.9% to 24.1% across state surveys in 2011. View Data
  • bullet In Montana in 2011, 38.3% of 9th grade female and 38.7% of 9th grade male students did not attend physical education classes daily. View Data
    bullet In Georgia in 2011, 72.7% of female students and 74.0% of male students were never told by a doctor or nurse that they had asthma. View Data
    bullet Nationwide, more students reported current marijuana use in 2011 (23.1%) than in 1991 (14.7%). View Data
