In FY 2011, the LIHEAP program provided $4.7 billion to 50 states, the District of Columbia, 150 tribes and five territories to assist low-income households with their home energy bills. Heating assistance was provided to 6.7 million eligible households in the U.S. through the federal dollars provided by LIHEAP in FY 2009.
