NHLBI Recovery Act Signature Projects

The NHLBI’s commitment to the advancement of research on the prevention and treatment of heart, lung, and blood diseases has been strengthened by funding under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.  As part of its commitment, the NHLBI has identified three priority areas where it hopes to make unique strides in scientific discoveries.

The scope of the signature projects span from identifying actual disease-causing genetic variants to catalyzing basic and clinical stem cell research that will lead to the development of regenerative therapies for heart, lung, and blood diseases.

The NHLBI’s signature projects are just a few of the many exciting avenues that are now being pursued and made possible through the Recovery Act.
