Thousands of supporters are participating in Walk n’ Rolls, BINGO, Tea Gatherings, a Pull-Up Competition, and Zumba for Ataxia events that are being held throughout the United States, Canada, and India and tens of thousands are being better informed about ataxia through electronic, print, radio, and TV media. Thank you to the organizers and participants of these events.

Genetic Alliance Survey

An umbrella group called Genetic Alliance, to which we belong, is asking people who have banked biological samples anywhere (in a hospital surgery, in a biobank, in a research project or clinical trial) or donated health information, to reply to a short survey. They are working to understand what people who bank these samples and health information are concerned about to make sure policies to protect participants are in place, and also to understand what people who bank these samples are concerned about. The survey has been approved by the Genetic Alliance Institutional Review Board. Please respond ASAP: Take the survey The National Ataxia Foundation will share the results of the survey. Thank you for your participation.

NEW EXERCISE FACT SHEET AVAILABLE

Until 2009, no physiotherapy concept had been evaluated for ataxia. Doris Brötz, a Physiotherapist in Tuebingen, Germany in cooperation with Prof. Ludger Schöls at the University of Tuebingen and Dr. Matthis Synofzik, MA Centre for Neurology developed the therapeutic exercises shown on NAF’s newest fact sheet. The exercises emerged from the focus of her work, which is the treatment of patients with neurological disorders and spinal disease. To download a copy of the fact sheet use this link or you may send a request for a hard copy to naf@ataxia.org.
