ST. PAUL, Minn. — On Friday, August 17, 2012, Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar will join Minnesota Governor Mark Dayton on a boat tour of the Mississippi National River & Recreation Area. Following the tour, Salazar will hold a media availability and meet with America’s Great Outdoors stakeholders to discuss the Obama administration’s commitment to promoting community-based recreation and conservation while advancing job and volunteer opportunities.

Media is invited to participate in the boat tour with Salazar and Dayton. Space is limited, so RSVP’s are required no later than 4:30 p.m. CDT.

At 11 a.m. CDT, Salazar will host a town hall at the University of Minnesota, where he will discuss the potential impacts of unbalanced cuts to conservation, tourism, and the outdoor economy.

Salazar’s visit to Minnesota will conclude a four-state tour this week to highlight America’s Great Outdoors initiatives that enhance conservation efforts, foster outdoor recreation opportunities, create jobs, and fuel local economies.
