Rebuilding Colorado Springs Neighborhood using HUD’s Community Block Grant and HOME Program Funding…

A grant from HUD to revitalize its neighborhood was used to conduct a neighborhood cleanup day.  Deerfield Hills, an LMI community in Colorado Springs was recently highlighted in the local media for using funding from Community Development Block Grant and HOME programs.

HUD has provided billions of dollars to state and local governments to target their own community development priorities through its Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program.

The rehabilitation of affordable housing and the improvement of public facilities have traditionally been the largest uses of CDBG.

And the largest federal block grant to state and local governments designed exclusively to produce affordable housing for low-income families is the HOME (HOME) Investment Partnerships Program).

Since 1992, HOME has produced 381,883 rental units, assisted 428,373 homebuyers, rehabilitated 197,780 owner-occupied units, and helped 242,768 tenants.
