Working at the United States Mint

The United States Mint has six departments among six facilities across the nation which contribute to its overall mission-"To manufacture and distribute circulating coins, precious metals and collectible coins, and national medals to meet the needs of the United States."  The main responsibilities of each department as well as some of its key positions are listed below.

The Financial Department is responsible for coordinating the development of the United States Mint’s budget and strategic plan while overseeing the procurement of goods and services.

The United States Mint’s technological infrastructure is dependent on the work of the Information Technology Department.  This department is responsible for the management of our information assets and technology projects; information security; system development and maintenance; and product assurance.

The Manufacturing Department is responsible for manufacturing and distributing circulating coins, precious metal and collectible coins, and national medals.

The Protection Department is the home of the United States Mint Police.  Primary responsibilities include protecting life and property; preventing, detecting, and investigating criminal acts; collecting and preserving evidence; and enforcing Federal and local laws.

The Sales and Marketing Department focuses on the United States Mint’s marketing strategies, brand management, special programs and products, and managing our customer expectations and relationships.

The Workforce Solution Department is responsible for the human resources programs available to United States Mint employees; the training and development of employee skill-sets and competencies; implementing and managing diversity and equal employment opportunity programs; and maintaining inclusive work environments for all United States Mint employees.
