OIG Investigations

The Office of Inspector General (OIG) is authorized to receive allegations of violations of law or misconduct by employees and contractors as well as allegations of irregularities or abuse in AOC operations.

Findings of criminal violation are reported to the Department of Justice and AOC Management. Violations of an administrative nature, such as violation of AOC policy, are reported to AOC Management for appropriate action.

Examples of what the OIG investigates include:

  • Contractor false claims
  • Abuse of Supervisor's authority
  • Falsification of Time Cards
  • False Workers' Comp (FECA) claims
  • Fraud or abuse;
  • Bribes, kickbacks, bid-rigging;
  • Conflicts of interest;
  • Credit or purchase card fraud;
  • Forgery or thefts;
  • Improper use of AOC resources or property;
  • Violations of laws, rules or regulations; and
  • Reprisal for contacting or reporting information to the OIG.

 

The OIG will help refer you to:

  • Individual discrimination or retaliation complaints including alleged violations of the Congressional Accountability Act, 2 U.S.C. 1301 et seq. (refer to AOC Order O24-1 – The AOC Conciliation Program and the AOC's Equal Employment Opportunity/Conciliation Programs (EEO/CP) Division.  The Office of Compliance offers the exclusive procedure for resolving retaliation allegations under 2 U.S.C. Sec. 1317);
  • Individual employee benefits and compensation issues (refer to HRMD);
  • Individual grievances (refer to AOC Personnel Manual Chapter 771 or to the applicable collective bargaining agreement);
  • Individual workplace conflicts (refer to EEO/CP Division) or matters covered in the AOC's collective bargaining agreements; and
  • Complaints regarding workplace safety and health or environmental (refer to the Office of Safety, Fire and Environmental Programs).
