The beginning of a new day

Daybreak has been successfully treating teens for drug and alcohol abuse for over twenty years. We are committed to serving teens and their families, and have become an innovative leader in the youth drug and alcohol treatment field.

If your family is struggling with the effects of teen drug abuse, Daybreak can help. We provide a safe, secure learning environment where kids can work on their problems. We can help your child develop tools that will help him or her manage their emotions, and understand those feelings which can lead to drug use. We help young people to believe in themselves, and to embrace the values of personal responsibility and accountability.

Are you concerned with your child’s drug or alcohol use??

Step 1: Get an assessment – assessments need to be completed by a Chemical Dependency counselor in order to determine the appropriate services for your child (i.e. outpatient versus inpatient).  This can be arranged by contacting our Outpatient offices: (360)750-9635 in Vancouver, (509)444-7033 in Spokane.

Our counselors will then be able to prescribe an effective course of treatment.

(Inpatient phones are:  (360)750-9588 Vancouver…. (509)624-3227 in Spokane.)

Our Therapeutic Approach
Daybreak counselors are trained in two research-based methods of therapy which are deemed to be “Best Practices” by the mental health industry. They are Motivational Interviewing (MI), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)

Motivational Interviewing is a counseling approach based on the principle that all human behavior is motivated. It acknowledges that deciding to change is difficult and most people experience ambivalence when faced with difficult behavioral changes. It also acknowledges that people can perceive both the advantages and the disadvantages of altering their current drug use behavior.   DBT is an approach designed for people who have trouble controlling their emotions and behavior. Clients are taught and helped to use skills to help tolerate distress, manage their emotions, and be more effective in interpersonal relationships.

We operate Outpatient and Inpatient treatment programs in eastern and western Washington state, and serve teens from around the Northwest.   Together, Daybreak’s programs serve nearly 1000 adolescents each year.

For Parents

"In spite of the six thousand manuals on child raising in the bookstores, child raising is still a dark continent and no one really knows anything. You just need a lot of love and luck - and, of course, courage." ~ Bill Cosby

When we ask teenagers what they want out of treatment, more than 90% say that they want to have a better relationship with their parents.

But they will still not tell you the whole truth if they think they might get in trouble or disappoint you.

So we parents must be alert to the Warning Signs of substance use.

Rather than assuming that our kids will never become involved in problem behaviors we must educate ourselves about Teen Substance Abuse and other behavioral or emotional problems.

If there is any glimmer of a suspicion we must find out about the most appropriate Actions and Options.

If you have questions or concerns call 1(888) 454-5506 ext. 26 or click the Information Request link and ask.  We will answer.

"Parents who are afraid to put their foot down usually have children who step on their toes."  ~Chinese Proverb
