Health Living Message for October

Get recommended screenings and vaccinations. Common cancer screening procedures include colonoscopy, mammogram, and cervical cancer screening exams. Decisions about cancer screening are based on age, gender, health status and family history.  Talk to your health care provider about the screenings that can help you stay healthy. Annually, the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) hosts a National Creative Arts Competition for Veterans. Out of more than 140 Veterans from VA North Texas, 14 placed nationally and 5 of those Veterans received a special invite to the National Veterans Creative Arts Festival to showcase their skill and talent. Registered nurses are available 24 hours, 7 days a week and on holidays to answer medical advice questions. This service is provided to increase veteran access to health care advice and to help avoid unnecessary hospital or clinic visits.
