The goal of Region E is to help provide the northeastern area of the United States with the skilled professional workforce it will need to support the transition to a new era of health care where providers can use electronic health records (EHRs) to improve patients’ health and the way health care is delivered in this country.

Region E includes
22 member colleges, which are located in the District of Columbia and 11 states: Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maryland, Maine, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Vermont, and West Virginia.
Karan DiNardo, a Bridgewater, NJ resident, first applied to
Raritan Valley Community College’s (RVCC) EHR Certificate Program in December 2010. DiNardo is an IT professional with more than 15 years of experience who has an undergraduate degree in Computer Science/Math, and is PMP Certified. As a student in RVCC’s Electronic Health Record Certificate Program, DiNardo was hired by the New Jersey Primary Care Association as a Clinical Applications Workflow Analyst.
Students enrolled in the Community College Consortia Program are high-caliber health IT professionals who are well-grounded in IT and health care.
To date, more than 1,000 students have been enrolled in Region E's programs, and by April 2011, Region E expects approximately more than 900 students will graduate.
