Career Development
The Office of Research on Women’s Health (ORWH) develops and supports opportunities to recruit, retain, and advance women in biomedical careers, and programs that support both women and men in women’s health and sex differences research careers. ORWH works to increase the number of scientists studying women’s health and sex differences research and supports mentored career development and NIH intramural training and education programs to ensure that women’s health research remains at the forefront of the NIH research agenda.
NIH Working Group on Women in Biomedical Careers
This working group develops and evaluates policies for recruiting and retaining women scientists in the NIH intramural and extramural communities.
Mentored Career Development Programs
These programs provide a bridge between research training and research independence.
Re-Entry into Biomedical Research Careers
This supplement program to help scientists re-establish research careers in biomedical or behavioral science after taking time off for family-related responsibilities.
Support for Intramural Training and Education Programs
ORWH support for training programs prepares NIH trainees become biomedical research leaders and supports projects that promote women's health and sex differences research.
Summer Internship Programs for Undergraduate and High School Students
ORWH provides support to students through its signature Wellesley-in-Washington summer program and also through the ORWH-FAES-NIH High School Student program.
