State Health Department to Host Forum on Improving Capital Access for Health Care Providers in New York State
On Tuesday, October 2, 2012, State Health Commissioner Nirav R. Shah, M.D., M.P.H., will host a forum featuring state and national experts in the fields of health care and finance who will share their expertise and ideas for "Improving Capital Access for Health Care Providers in New York State." The forum will be held at the CUNY Graduate Center, Proshansky Auditorium, 365 Fifth Avenue at 34 Street in Manhattan from 9:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. It will also be webcast at http://www.health.ny.gov/events/webcasts/
National Prescription Drug Take Back Day is Saturday, September 29 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
The State Department of Health (DOH), Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services (OASAS), New York State Police, and Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) encourage New Yorkers to participate in National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, September 29. The event provides an opportunity for people to safely dispose of unwanted or unused prescription drugs at local community drop-off sites.

Niskayuna Wins Title of Best Tasting Water in New York State
The Town of Niskayuna, Schenectady County, won the New York State Drinking Water Taste Test today at the New York State Fair, edging out the Town of Guilderland, Albany County, in the final voting by Fairgoers.
