Michael Duffy has worked in the Behavioral Health field for the past 28 years as an Administrator, Consultant, Lecturer and Clinician. As a clinician, he implemented and facilitated group therapy for Co-occurring Disorders as early as1983. He also developed and implemented the model for intense outpatient addiction treatment that continues to be utilized in the state of Louisiana today. Clinical experience includes individual, family and group therapy for both adult and adolescent Behavioral Health populations. His consulting work has been in the area of Recovery Oriented Systems of Care and with Therapeutic Communities. Administrative management experience includes serving as an administrator of a Detoxification and Inpatient Treatment Program prior to taking the position as the Deputy Assistant Secretary for the Office for Addictive Disorders for the state of Louisiana. Mr. Duffy is a Registered Nurse and held national certification and was a member of the National Consortium of Behavioral Health Nurses for 24 years. He served on the Board and was the chairman for the Criminal Justice Committee for the National Association of State Alcohol and Drug Abuse Directors (NASADAD). He was appointed by the last three Governors in Louisiana to serve as the Director of Prevention and Treatment Services for the Office for Addictive Disorders. Under his leadership there was a 270% increase in funding as a result of enhanced Federal, State and Local collaborations.
