Description
Structured around an integrated product development, Systems Engineering driven acquisition philosophy, the Advanced Production, Quality & Manufacturing Course (APQMC) investigates decision-making issues relevant to successfully managing three core technical tasks in DoD acquisition. These tasks include systems and process development, manufacturing, and product quality management. Special attention is given advanced quality systems, six sigma and lean manufacturing techniques; including specific tools and techniques that are used successfully in the commercial environment to improve customer satisfaction. Other topics include current acquisition policies, risk management, design of experiments, quality functional deployment, theory of constraints, predictive analysis and environmental safety and health. Analytical discussions of "real-life" case studies are integrated into the course. The student will learn how to effectively provide manufacturing and quality -management-related counsel in an integrated product/process team environment.

Target Attendees
This course is designed for senior military and civilian personnel as well as defense industry equivalents who are assigned to DoD production, manufacturing, or quality positions or are performing duties in related areas.

  • ACQ 201B, Intermediate Systems Acquisition, Part B
  • PQM 201B, Intermediate Production, Quality, and Manufacturing, Part B

    Recommended:
  • CLE 004, Introduction to Lean Enterprise Concepts
  • CLE 007, Lean Six Sigma for Manufacturing
  • CLE 008, Six Sigma: Concepts and Processes
  • At least 4 years of production or quality management experience following Level II certification in PQM.
