International Consortia & Agreements

NCI Scientist Exchange Programs

In addition to training in National Cancer Institute (NCI) intramural laboratories, supported under the NIH Visiting program, the NCI also partially supports training of scientists from low, middle, and upper-middle income countries in U.S. extramural laboratories and in overseas laboratories located in higher income countries. In FY2009, NCI sponsored overseas scientists from Albania, Argentina, Azerbaijan, China, The Gambia, Georgia, Ghana, India, Indonesia, Israel, Jordan, Kenya, S. Korea, Malaysia, Mongolia, Nepal, Nicaragua, Nigeria, Peru, Philippines, Russia, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Tanzania, Turkey, Uzbekistan, Vietnam, and Yemen.

Each year, individuals from a number of foreign countries participate in the Cancer Prevention and Control Academic Course, offered by the Division of Cancer Prevention. In the period 2003 to 2010, sponsored participants came from Albania, Bolivia, Brazil, China, Costa Rica, Georgia, Ghana, Haiti, India, Kenya, Kyrgyzstan, Iran, Ireland, Israel, Jordan, Kenya, Korea, Lithuania, Malawi, Malaysia, Morrocco, Nepal, Nicaragua, Niger, Nigeria, Peru, Russia, Spain, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, Tunisia, Turkey, Vietnam, Ukraine, and Zambia.
