UPDATE ON SS/HS FY 2011

The SS/HS federal partners are proposing changes to the SS/HS priority, requirements, and definitions for the FY SS/HS 2011 competition. The proposed changes, along with a rationale for the changes, appear in February 18th edition of the Federal Register (see link below). The notice provides instructions for providing comments on these proposed changes. The comment period is 30 days. At the conclusion of the public comment period the SS/HS Federal partners will review comments and publish a final notice of priorities, requirements, and definitions as well as a notice inviting applications for new awards in FY 2011. The notice inviting applications will include instructions on how to access the application, the due date, and other pertinent information. Our best estimate is that the final notice, notice inviting applications, and the FY 2011 application will be released mid to late April. As there are a number of factors that contribute to finalizing these documents, we can only provide an estimate and strongly encourage that you frequently check this website for updated information.

Funds available to support the SS/HS program have been greatly reduced in FY 2011. Funds appropriated will be used to make continuation awards to the current 89 (2008 and 2009) SS/HS grantees. The proposed change to the SS/HS program priorities, requirements, and definitions (as described in the February 18th edition of the Federal Register) for future competitions is on hold. A decision to finalize the proposed changes will be made when more information is known about the FY 2012 appropriations.
