Atlas of Heart Disease and Stroke cover.Atlas of Heart Disease and Stroke

An estimated 17 million people worldwide die of cardiovascular diseases, particularly heart attacks and strokes. Many of the risk factors for heart diseases and stroke are preventable or can be controlled, thereby reducing risk. To respond to population health challenges of the global epidemic of heart disease and stroke, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) collaborated with the World Health Organization (WHO) to produce The Atlas of Heart Disease and Stroke.

The Atlas addresses the global epidemic of heart disease and stroke in six parts: cardiovascular disease; risk factors; the burden; action; the future and the past; and world tables. All topics of contemporary importance have been addressed through pictures and few words. The Atlas is designed for use by policy makers, national and international organizations, health professionals and the general public.

The Atlas may be downloaded or ordered from the website of the World Health Organization at http://www.who.int/cardiovascular_diseases/resources/atlas/en/.
