The U.S. Census has been collected every 10 years since 1790. It offers a wealth of information about our families, our neighborhoods, and our country. Learn how to find hidden treasures in the censuses, 1790-1940.

They Came From Italy

Date and Time: Thurs. Oct 18, 2012, 6 P.M.

Over five million Italians immigrated to the United States in the 19th and 20th centuries, and the greatest volume of immigration from Italy occurred between 1880 and 1920. The influences and contributions from that time are still readily apparent in New England. Well-known genealogist Marcia Melnyk, a specialist in Italian family history, will share the secrets of researching Italian family history.

Finding Our Veterans: Military Records of American Veterans

Millions of official records of Americans at war have been preserved by the National Archives. They range back to the Revolution and reach up to modern times. Many of these records are available online and on microfilm for public use. You'll learn how to find the records of our American heroes.

Introduction to Genealogy

The stories of our families help tell us where we've come from and who we are. Yet family history--its lore, legend, and fact--can be subject to the fog of time. Researching family history through historical records is an engaging and worthwhile pastime. And some of these official records are held at the National Archives . . . this workshop will help you get started on your family history.
