The National Archives at San Francisco holds more than 10 linear miles of original records generated by Federal courts and agency field offices in northern and central California, Nevada (except Clark County), Hawaii, Guam, American Samoa, and the Trust Territory of the Pacific Islands.

Our holdings date from the 1850s to the early 2000s.

We also have a large collection of National Archives microfilm, including all extant Federal population census schedules from 1790 to 1930.

Our limited staff resources do not allow for extensive research; instead we provide assistance to people conducting their own research using our records.

To make the best use of your time at our facility, please make an appointment in advance by sending an email to sanbruno.archives@nara.gov.

No appointment is necessary for researchers working only with the microfilm or the Public Access computers (internet connection).

PDF files require the free Adobe Reader.
More information on Adobe Acrobat PDF files is available on our Accessibility page.
